Pulo Cangkir Tourism Extortion Actiond, Police Arrest 4 Youths in Kronjo
MediaBantenCyber.co.id (MBC), Tangerang — The police took action against allegations of illegal levies (extortion) in the Pulo Cangkir pilgrimage tourist area, Kronjo Village, Tangerang Regency, by arresting four youths suspected of being involved in collecting unofficial levies.
The control was carried out by the Tangerang Police through the Kronjo Police on Monday (23/3/2026), following complaints from the public regarding entry fees which were considered unreasonable, namely IDR 20,000 for four-wheeled vehicles and IDR 10,000 for two-wheeled vehicles.
Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Pol Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah said this step was a quick response to residents’ complaints as well as an effort to prevent potential conflicts in the field.
He explained that the four youths who were detained had undergone examination. The handling process is carried out with an approach that prioritizes solutions and the interests of local communities.
After the control, deliberations were held involving elements of the village government, community leaders, Forkopimcam, and the MUI. In the forum, the Head of Kronjo Village, Nurjaman, said that the management of levies was previously handed over to Karang Taruna based on the results of deliberations in 2023.
The levy proceeds, he continued, are used for social activities such as compensation for orphans and are managed through village cash registers.
However, in a follow-up deliberation held on Wednesday (25/3/2026) in the Kronjo District Office Hall, it was agreed that the management of levies must be equipped with a clear legal basis, such as Village Regulations (Perdes).
For the time being, levies in the Pulo Cangkir tourist area have been stopped until official regulations are established.
The sub-district will also coordinate with the Tangerang Regency Government to formulate a tourism management system that is more orderly, transparent and has legal legitimacy. In the future, officers who carry out withdrawals will also be required to have official identification.
Indra Waspada emphasized that the police will continue to be present to maintain public security and order, including in tourist areas, with a preventive and humanist approach but remaining firm and measured.
“Our main goal is to maintain security, comfort and the good name of the region,” he stressed.
He also appealed to the public not to levy fees without a clear legal basis and to prioritize deliberation in resolving problems.
With this step, it is hoped that Pulo Cangkir tourism management in the future will be more orderly, transparent and provide benefits without causing polemics. (*)
