Chinese New Year 2026 in Jakarta: Here is a list of 10 events starting February 13 that you must visit



POSKOTA.CO.ID – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially announced the 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration Schedule in Jakarta, which this year carries the theme Harmony of the Archipelago Chinese New Year. The series of activities will take place from mid-February to early March 2026 at various strategic points in the capital.

Launching from Instagram @dkijakarta, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Service said that this celebration was designed to provide a space for inclusive cultural interaction.

The wide distribution of event locations from Sudirman–Thamrin, HI Roundabout, Monas, Kota Tua, to the Chinatown area gives residents the option to celebrate Chinese New Year with their families at nearby locations.

Series of 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration Schedules in Jakarta

1. Chinese New Year Decoration Competition (12–17 February 2026)

The celebration started with the Chinese New Year Decoration Competition which was held throughout the Sudirman–Thamrin area. Office buildings and a number of public facilities will be decorated with Chinese New Year decorative elements, such as:

  • Red lantern
  • Shio ornaments
  • A themed installation on the theme of luck

For example, several large buildings in the business district will display artwork that combines the characters of the 12 zodiac signs with modern elements, creating a warm and colorful Chinese New Year atmosphere.

2. Jakarta Chinese New Year Festival at the HI Roundabout (13–17 February 2026)

HI Roundabout is the center of the Jakarta Chinese New Year Festival. This event features:

  • 3D Lantern 12 Shio
  • Harmony Lantern Walk
  • Harmony Light LED Pagoda
  • God of Fortune Cai Sen Ye
  • Barongsai & Lion Dance Parade
  • Laser Show

At night, visitors can enjoy the view of giant lanterns emitting Chinese New Year themed lights.

3. Jakarta Chinese New Year Symphony (13 February 2026)

Still at the HI Roundabout, the Jakarta Chinese New Year Symphony will be held, featuring a colossal ensemble consisting of around 50 traditional Chinese musical instruments.

This event also featured the Selendang Dendang dance, an art form that reflects the acculturation of Indonesian and Chinese cultures. The combination of music and dance movements creates an immersive artistic experience for the audience.

4. Jakarta Chinatown Festival at TMII (14–17 February 2026)

The Chinatown Festival takes place at the DKI Jakarta Pavilion, TMII and features:

  • Chinese New Year decorations
  • Lion Dance Performance
  • Acculturation of Chinese and Betawi culture
