Suspension Bridge in Lebak Collapses, Three Motorcycle Riders Fall into the River

LEBAK, POSKOTA.CO.ID – The suspension bridge which connects between villages and between sub-districts in Lebak Regency collapsed on Wednesday, January 21 2026 at around 14.15 WIB.

It is known that the suspension bridge in an unsuitable condition is an access link between Cilangkap Village, Wanasalam District and Sinanghati Village, Malingping District.

Knowing this, member of the Banten DPRD, Musa Weliansyah, revealed that three motorbikes carrying five students from SMP Negeri 3 Wanasalam fell into the river.

“They were going home from school, when they were crossing the bridge, suddenly the bridge collapsed because the rope broke, causing them to fall into the river,” said Musa.

Musa said that two of the victims only suffered injuries, while the other one was rushed to the Malingping Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to receive medical treatment.

“The victim survived, but two people suffered injuries, one was rushed to Malingping Regional Hospital,” he said.

Regarding the cause of the bridge collapsing, Musa said it was because the condition of the building was already fragile because it had not been repaired for 10 years.

“So the suspension bridge is indeed fragile, it hasn’t been repaired for 10 years,” he said.

Musa confirmed that the bridge was a vital access for the community, because it was the main route connecting two villages and two sub-districts.
