Ministry of Public Works Drills 48 Wells to Provide Clean Water and Sanitation for Disaster Affected Residents in Aceh Tamiang

Aceh Tamiang, 26 December 2025 – The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to strengthen its commitment to support post-disaster management in Aceh Tamiang Regency. One of the ministry’s main priorities currently is ensuring the availability of clean water and adequate sanitation facilities for communities affected by disasters.

The Ministry of Public Works drills deep wells and shallow wells in around 48 areas
point gradually to complete Bathing, Washing and Toilet (MCK) facilities.

“If
If there is no water, disease will definitely come. After the roads and bridges
starting to improve, our next focus is about water. Clean water must be done immediately
available to the entire community,” said Minister Dody when carrying out
working visit to Aceh Tamiang, Wednesday (24/12/2025).

makes it difficult to find shallow water sources suitable for consumption.

“If

drilling for deep water sources,” explained Minister Dody.

For
accelerating this process, the Ministry of Public Works implemented a combination strategy, namely
repair the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) damaged due to the disaster
while also carrying out new drilling at several points. This effort also got
full support from elements of the TNI and Polri.

“We
combine repair of damaged SPAM with deep water source drilling,
so that the water that comes out can really be clean water for you
community,” added Minister Dody.

While processing
drilling is underway, the Ministry of Public Works through the Building Arrangement, Infrastructure,
and Regions (BPBPK) has prepared various emergency facilities in the field.
A total of 27 clean water tanks or Public Hydrants (HU) with a capacity of 1,000
liters up to 2,000 liters have been distributed to a number of sub-districts according to directions
Regent of Aceh Tamiang.

To guarantee
water availability, tank filling is carried out routinely twice a day.
Apart from that, to support environmental cleanliness, 13 units have been installed
toilet portable and 10 sets of toilets knockdown. Sanitary facilities

Apart from that, the Ministry of Public Works is also sending additional aid and facilities
infrastructure from Jakarta to strengthen handling in Aceh Tamiang. Help

delivered included 2 units of IPA Mobile Setta, 1 unit of double car
cabin, 1 unit of feces suction car, 40 units of HU with a capacity of 2,000 liters, 8 units
tents, 20 velbed units, 10 portable toilet units, and 10 water tankers.

This comprehensive form is a real manifestation of the government’s presence through the Ministry
PU to provide sustainable clean water and sanitation facilities for
the people of Aceh Tamiang Regency in the midst of the disaster recovery period.
