Pramono Supports Massive Handling of Sapu-Sapu Fish
JAKARTA, POSKOTA.CO.ID – The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung supports handling the broomstick fish population in Jakarta waters on a massive scale.
“I am one of them and then agree that it will then be held on a massive scale to eliminate or reduce broomstick fish. Because if left unchecked, the other fish will disappear. Warders and so on will definitely disappear,” said Pramono at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday, April 11 2026.
Pramono reviewed the control of fish populations that threaten the continuity of the water ecosystem around the central area of Jakarta.
“The first is the issue of broomstick fish. I followed it when in front of the Grand Hyatt or Plaza Indonesia, the mayor together with PPSU caught broomstick fish,” he said.

He explained that the broomstick fish is a species that originates from South America and is known to have a very strong immune system. This fish is able to survive in various environmental conditions and consume various types of food, so it has the potential to disrupt the local aquatic ecosystem.
“Indeed, this fish is a fish that migrates from South America. Its immune system is extraordinary. It can live on anything,” he said.
Meanwhile, fish meat can be dangerous if it enters the ecosystem chain.
“But because he can eat anything, of course it is also dangerous. The danger is that the meat will definitely contain contamination with dangerous substances,” he said.

Furthermore, he appreciated the steps taken by PPSU together with the Mayor of Central Jakarta in controlling broomstick fish in the field.
