Supporting the JKN Program, Hundreds of Regional Heads Receive Awards at the 2026 UHC Awards
JAKARTA, POSKOTA.CO.ID – A total of 31 provincial governments and 397 district and city governments received awards at the 2026 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Awards.
This award is an appreciation given by BPJS Health to regional heads at both provincial and district/city levels, in providing public health protection through the JKN Program, Tuesday, January 27 2025.
The Main Director of BPJS Health, Ghufron Mukti, said that this achievement reflects the success of cross-sectoral collaboration in guaranteeing people’s basic rights to health services. According to him, the JKN program is a state instrument in ensuring that people receive fair and equitable health protection. This success cannot be separated from the strong commitment of the regional government.
“As of December 31 2025, the number of JKN Program participants has reached 282.7 million people or more than 98 percent of the total population of Indonesia, with an active participation rate of 81.45 percent. This achievement also exceeds the national target set in the 2025-2029 National Medium Term Development Plan,” emphasized Ghufron.

The role of regional heads has a direct influence on this success, especially in encouraging residents to register and ensuring continued active participation through support for regional policies and budgeting. According to Ghufron, when regional heads have a strong commitment, public health protection can be realized more evenly.
“In line with the 2030 Global Sustainable Development Goals development agenda, Indonesia places Universal Health Coverage as one of the main indicators in realizing a healthy and prosperous society. This commitment is realized through the JKN Program which is an indicator of achieving the SDGs 3.8 target, with the aim of covering the entire population by 2030,” explained Ghufron.
UHC achievements not only have an impact on increasing access to health services, but also contribute to strengthening social welfare. Ghufron added, based on LPEM FEB UI research in 2025, areas that have achieved UHC have lower morbidity rates, better access to services, and a reduced burden on household health expenditure.
“On the other hand, increasing participant coverage has also encouraged increased utilization of health services. Currently, the average visit of JKN Program participants to health facilities has reached two million visits per day, reflecting the increasing openness of public access to health services,” added Ghufron.
To ensure that service quality is maintained, BPJS Health continues to strengthen cooperation with health facilities, encourage the strengthening of primary services, and expand the use of digital technology in JKN services. Ghufron explained that now BPJS Health has developed non-face-to-face service channels, such as through the JKN Mobile Application, Administrative Services via WhatsApp (PANDAWA) via number 08118165165, and Care Center 165.
“JKN participants can also take advantage of the online queue when they want to access services at health facilities, anytime and anywhere. There is even an i-Care JKN feature, which can view the service history of JKN participants at health facilities within one year, which makes it easier for doctors to provide health services quickly and precisely,” said Ghufron.
