2025 SEA Games: Indonesian Gymnastics Team Exceeds Target, Wins 4 Medals

POSKOTA.CO.ID – Another proud achievement has been made by Indonesian sports on the Southeast Asian stage. The Indonesian artistic gymnastics team closed its participation in the 2025 Thailand SEA Games by exceeding its initial target.

Of the total number of events participated, the Red and White contingent managed to bring home one gold, two silver and one bronze medals—results that not only reflect improvements in technical performance, but also mark structural progress in national gymnastics development.

The SEA Games event which took place in Bangkok became a stage to prove for the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) that the long work of athlete development, regeneration and consistency of local coaches is starting to show real results. FGI General Chair, Ita Yuliati, called this achievement a positive surprise that exceeded the federation’s expectations since the start of the championship.

“This result is a pleasant and proud surprise. We had set a gold target from the start, and today it was proven. However, the addition of another medal gives a deeper meaning for us,” said Ita Yuliati in an official FGI statement in Bangkok, Saturday, December 13 2025.

Gold That Ends the Long Wait

Indonesia’s gold medal was presented by Abiyurafi through the Men’s Horizontal Bars number. This flagship athlete recorded a score of 13,400 and shared the top position with the host athlete from Thailand, Chuaisom Weerapat, who got an identical score. Below these two, Vietnamese athlete Dinh Phuong Thanh won the silver medal with a score of 13.133.

For Indonesia, this gold has historical meaning. The men’s artistic gymnastics team last won SEA Games gold at the 2019 Philippine edition through Agus Prayoko in the Men’s Vault event.

The six year wait was finally answered in Bangkok, confirming that Indonesia still has competitiveness in high technical numbers.

Ita Yuliati assessed that Abiyurafi’s success was not an instant result, but rather the fruit of a long process and continuous evaluation since the previous SEA Games. “In Cambodia, Abiyurafi only won silver. We learned from there, improved the details, and today he was able to achieve the gold target,” he said.

Silver and Bronze are full of the meaning of regeneration

Apart from gold, two silver medals were donated by Aprizal Muhammad in the Men’s Rings event and Satria Tri Wira Yudha in the Men’s Parallel Bars event. For Aprizal, this medal was an “egg-breaking” moment after years of struggling without a podium at a major event. Meanwhile for Satria, this silver felt special because it was won on its first debut at the SEA Games.

One Indonesian bronze medal came from the women’s sector through Salsabilla Hadi Pamungkas in the Women’s Floor Exercise number. Just like Satria, Salsabilla also made his SEA Games debut, making this podium the initial foundation for his long journey at international level.
