Ramadhan becomes a Moment for Development, Serang Police Chief Breaks Fast with Prisoners

SERANG, POSKOTA.CO.ID – Serang Police held an iftar activity with detainees at the Serang Police Headquarters Detention Center (Rutan), Tuesday, February 24 2026.

The event began with the reading of Surah Yasin and a joint prayer led by Ustaz Muhamad Mukadi. The prisoners looked solemn in following the series of prayers until it was time to break the fast.

“Today we can sit together with friends who are carrying out the legal process, with the sole aim of breaking the fast together,” said Serang Police Chief, AKBP Andri Kurniawan, Tuesday, February 24 2026.

He emphasized that there was no barrier between law enforcement officers and detainees in this moment of togetherness. Everyone present is invited to enjoy a meal to break the fast.

“Today I ask everyone to enjoy what we have prepared. There is no distance between us as law enforcers and all of you,” he said.

According to him, Ramadan should be used as a moment of self-introspection for all parties, including prisoners who are undergoing legal proceedings.

“My hope is that this Ramadhan will be an opportunity for introspection so that in the future we don’t return to things that are not good,” he said.

He also reminded that fasting worship is a self-defense so that each individual can restrain himself and be patient, and not commit acts forbidden by Allah SWT.

“Make fasting a momentum to increase your devotion to Allah SWT. Hopefully after this we can all become better individuals,” he concluded.
